I contracted on behalf of the grant I work under to hire David Nowell, Ph.D., to deliver a half-day training on ADHD at the Hoagland-Pincus Conference Center in Shrewsbury, MA. The audience of 120 persons was comprised of Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) professionals, that is, counselors and supervisors providing individualized VR services to clients with disabilities and more importantly, the ability to work. Some of these clients have ADHD as part of their learning profile and it is the responsibility of the professional to acquire and update his/her knowledge base as to ADHD characteristics, screening, treatment, and learning/organization strategies to implement for work and life success. Dr. Nowell presented ADHD training that addressed the above areas in a highly engaging manner by providing lots of case stories and material to illustrate his points. When the results were tabulated from the 104 evaluations submitted, the results awarded him a 4.94 score on a 5.0 scale; this is the highest score ever achieved by a single presenter. From this experience, I can recommend Dr. Nowell’s work as being professional, thought-provoking, and of exceptional quality. I have recommended him to other professional trainers, training coordinators, and educators. Dr. Nowell’s work delivers both knowledge and inspiration to the training participant serving individuals with ADHD.

Dr. Nowell came to Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates to present an all day training session to our Behavior Health department on the assessment of suicidal risk and treatment planning for such patients. Prior to our contracting with him for this teaching event I spoke with a managers at other sites throughout the state where he has prior educational activities. Without exception they all provided references describing Dr. Nowell's skills as exceptional and his audience rating as extremely positive. I can only add that these comments proved to be quite accurate. He kept a large audience engaged with well organized information, excellent handouts, wonderful interactive and engaging discussions and clear and concise projected slides. Perhaps the best complement was that while the training was done on a Saturday, no one left at the lunch break. Dr. Nowell remains in my experience one of the best teachers I have watched and worked with over a long career.

Thank you for presenting at the ACO Conference 2011: Coaches Called to Courage! Your presence made a big difference and we so appreciate you for taking the time to be with us. Your presentation, Lend Me Your Brain, was a very popular presentation. Some of us couldn’t even get in! You received high marks across the board. People were thrilled with you, your work, and your presentation.

Just wanted to thank you for a fantastic training day today. I don't think I've ever cried from laughing during a psych. training in the past....You were a wonderfully engaging presenter and a wealth of information. Obviously a very talented and knowledgeable clinician, which is inspiring. I learnt a lot today and had fun whilst doing so.

You truly have a gift and passion for connecting with others and sharing your knowledge and expertise regarding working with individuals who have ADHD. The information I obtained from your presentation will be helpful in the work I do with individuals who have ADHD. I look forward to continue learning more about this diagnosis and how I can best assist clients' work with everyday.
